Pineapple Milky
Feb 20th
I just discovered Pineapple Milky. Could there ever be a better candy than creamy chewy pineapple-y Milky? I say no!
According to the official Milky website, the flavor has been out since June of last year. Since then, Milky has seen a Cocoa and a Strawberry Condensed Milk incarnation, but to me, pineapple is the most exciting news in the Milky empire in the past year. If you have a Japanese market in your area, you must pick some up.
Geek Out New York
Feb 18th
Some of you may know my husband John as the fish keeper in the family, or the guy who got his finger sewn up, or the person who responds to your email if you have a question about a purchase in the Mochimochi Shop. He’s also a huge geek.
John is the genuine article— he started teaching the math classes in high school when they ran out of advanced classes for him to take, he wrote his senior thesis in college about Final Fantasy (and narratology), and he’s currently fixing up his prized Star Trek: The Next Generation pinball machine.
So when John starts up a website devoted to things geek, it’s kind of like a reassurance that all is right in the world.
Geek Out New York is a blog devoted to geek culture, and New York-based geekdom in particular. John thought it would be fun to write a blog with in-depth posts, of both the insightful and nonsense variety, instead of just links to the latest gadgets. Gadgets do make appearances though, along with current geek news, history, and geek-specific event listings. I don’t always get the inside jokes and references, but reading it makes me feel just a little bit like an insider.
So if you or someone you love is a geek, please check it out.
Reversible Chicken and Egg Pattern in Craft!
Feb 15th
I’m very excited to announce that I have a new pattern in the current issue of Craft magazine!

For their Play issue (which hit newsstands about a week ago), it’s a reversible chicken and egg!
The pattern is super-easy, and the issue is packed with lots of other fun play-related projects.
Thank you to Arwen at Craft—she was awesome to work with on this!
OK, Just One More Heart Post

This takes the Valentine Cake!
Kitty from Singapore fashioned this gorgeous Valentine’s Tree out of knitted hearts (obviously) and scrapbooking materials.
She also had a similar idea as Be yesterday and whipped up some “Hearty Flowers” to dance around the base of the tree.
If this doesn’t win you over for this much-maligned holiday, nothing will!
Incredible Hearts
Feb 13th
This little heart, topped with crazy dreadlocks, may be my favorite heart yet!
Lynn made this adorable musician heart for her musical husband for Christmas. You can see her own knitting patterns, yarns, and more at her website, ColorJoy.
OK, I guess I have two favorites— check out this amazing heart-plant by Be:
That would make such a great Valentine’s gift, don’t you think?
Well, think I may finally be all hearted out. A big thank-you to everyone who shared their creations with us!
Oh, and happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!
