Tiny Mushrooms

Winning caption by Michelle:

We are edible,
and unforgettable,
though some are atrocious,
and very ferocious.
So pick us the plucky quad,
who are ripe, right from sod!

Not to be confused with Plucky Mushrooms from Knitting Mochimochi, Tiny Mushrooms are actually even tinier!

tinymushrooms

This is a first for Tiny Mochi Fridays: these guys weren’t knit by me, but by a super-awesome knitter who is helping me make some of the characters appearing in Gnomes vs Snowmen. I wouldn’t be able to pull the show together without the help of Lisa, Angela, Faith, and Tomo!

I have a feeling that Tiny Mushrooms are ripe for captioning, so let’s have a contest! Leave your caption (one per person) in the comments to this post, and we’ll pick our favorite on Monday. Winner gets the PDF patterns for Tiny Things Collection 3!

Tiny Baked Potato

Winning caption by InStitches:

Dear Ghosts, Goblins, and all related paranormal beings,

This Halloween, could we please avoid doing the Monster Mash?

Sincerely, Potato.

I can’t believe there are still more projects from Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi that I haven’t yet featured here on the blog! Tiny Baked Potato is one of them.

tinybakedpotato

Potatoes are so much fun! Now I’ve made Tiny Old Potato, Tiny French Fries, Tiny Tater Tot, and Tiny Baked Potato. I suppose I could keep going with the potato-based foods if I wanted to.

I wonder if Tiny Baked Potato ever wishes he had been cooked differently… Time for a Tiny Baked Potato caption contest!

Leave your caption in the comments, and we’ll choose our favorite on Monday. Since Halloween is coming up soon, the winner will get the PDF pattern for Boo the Bat!

Hope to see some of you at Rhinebeck tomorrow! You’ll be able to find me in the author area of Building B in the afternoon.

Tiny Pumpkin

Winning caption by Amanda:
Tiny Pumpkin, President and CEO of 2 Cute 2 Carve, a non-profit, knitted, incorporation.

I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited for fall! So is this guy:

tinypumpkin

Tiny Pumpkin is inspired by the season, of course, but also by this predecessor that I got last year from a very sweet knitter who worked in a giant jack-o-lantern.

Time for a Tiny Pumpkin caption contest! Leave your captions in the comments (one per person), and we’ll choose our favorite on Tuesday. The winner will get the PDF pattern for Gobbledyghost!

Tiny Robots

If you’ve flipped through a copy of Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi, then you’re familiar with this bolt head. I just realized that he hasn’t been on my blog yet!

tinyrobot1

Tiny Robot was inspired a bit by Bender from Futurama, as you might have guessed. I love the photo of him and his friend that Brandi Simons took for my book—it’s one of my favorites!

And now there is a new robot in town! Meet Tiny Robot 2.0.

tinyrobot2

This bot’s specialty is his arm extension feature, which lets him do lots of hugging and shoplifting. I’m making a bunch of this new model to incorporate into my next installation! It’s going to be unveiled on November 3rd at gallery hanahou in NYC. More info on that soon!

We’ll resume the caption contests next Friday!

Tiny Gyoza

tinygyoza

Not technically sushi, but I thought a Tiny Gyoza would fit in pretty well at our tiny sushi bar.

So the final sushi bar four are Tiny Ebi Sushi, Tiny Edamame, Tiny Maki Sushi, and Tiny Gyoza! I’m planning to put them together into a new pattern collection, which will probably come out in November. Be on the lookout for it!

I’m traveling this weekend, so there won’t be a caption contest, but we’d love to have your Tiny Gyoza captions anyway just for fun.

Tiny Maki Sushi

Winning caption by Cassi:
Tiny Maki is not just short and stocky,
but very yummy with teriyaki.

Now for the third installment in the Tiny Sushi Set series!

tinymakisushi

The color might indicate that this Tiny Maki has tuna inside, but maybe it’s just a mystery maki. (I opt for the veggie sushi myself, but a mixed veggie maki proved tricky to knit.)

Leave a caption for our Tiny Maki (one per person please), and we’ll pick our favorite on Monday, who will win…

…the new Tiny Penguin Kit!

tinymakisushi_penguin

I have an idea of what the last sushi item will be next week, but suggestions are still welcome too!

Tiny Edamame

Winning caption by Emma:

Once they’re boiled they’re no longer soya beans, but has beans.

tinyedamame

What do you think it’s like to be tiny boiled soybeans? Leave your caption in the comments, and we’ll pick the one that makes us giggle the most on Monday. The winner gets a free pattern for Ninjabun!

tinyedamame_ninjabun

Also: what should be next in the sushi bar set? I’m thinking it has to have some kind of roll, and then maybe another type of nigiri sushi?

Tiny Sushi

Winning caption by Bonnie:

Tiny Sushi to Tiny Edamame: Wasabi?
Tiny Edemame: Nato much, you?

tinysushi

I love how this guy turned out!

The idea to knit this little tiny ebi sushi came directly from the recent Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi giveaway contest that Hannah held on her blog BitterSweet: the winner suggested that I make a Tiny Sushi!

It seems like there have been Mochimochi contests left and right these days, but one more this week couldn’t hurt, right? Leave your caption for Tiny Sushi in the comments to this post (one per person, please) and we’ll choose our favorite on Tuesday to win…

The pattern for Flapjack Frogs!

Have a happy Labor Day to those who are celebrating. See you on Tuesday!
