Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! I’m having a lot of fun coming up with different ways for the snails and slugs to s-l-o-w-l-y duke it out.

Seanna Lea—I used wire in one of my very early early toys (you can see it here), but I’ve since opted not to do so, though that does make it trickier to do more structural knitted “sculptures.” I think it’s just a personal preference, but I like the idea of a completely soft toy. And wire is kind of messy and can poke out if you’re not careful.

If you’ve seen Jan Messent’s work, she uses a lot of pipe cleaners and cardboard (I think).

Would love to see what you come up with!
