This is too funny! A real dog doesn’t know what to make of the robot dog that it meets at Tompkins Square Park in NYC.
You can make your own Robogurumi robot dog at a workshop with the Ossu! Shugeibu crafting club at gallery hanahou on October 17th. (It’s just $29.99, including materials!) Email info@galleryhanahou.com to sign up!
Update: I can’t believe it, but someone pretty much guessed spot-on in the comments! It’s going to be a factory with tiny stuff coming out on a conveyor belt.
Bet you can’t guess what this guy is going to be! (No really—I’m pretty certain you’ll never guess. But you can try anyway!)
It’s something I’m making for the upcoming Luv-able and Hug-able plush show at gallery hanahou. I’ll reveal more as it comes along!
I just discovered COLOURlovers, an online community/blog/resource for color inspiration—very cool! A contributor to the site recently blogged about the colors used in some of my toy designs.
I love the way the people on COLOURlovers obsessively create color palates from different sources. Here is the distilled version made from the colors in my Giant Mushrooms Attack the City knitted sculpture.
It looks so planned out when it’s shown like this! Gives me inspiration to put just a little more thought into my color choices.
Check out this video of awesome hand-sewn robot dogs! They were made by Ossu! Shugeibu, the “guerrilla” crafting club from Japan.
Ossu! Shugeibu is coming to gallery hanahou next month, where they will have a show and host a workshop on October 17th in which you can make your own robot dog! Email info@galleryhanahou.com for more info and to sign up.
Wanna see what I made for Plush You this year? It’s a Mossy Rock, a Mossy Log, and Mossy Ground!
These three will be available at this year’s Plush You show, which opens October 9th at Schmancy in Seattle. (I think they’ll be available online too!)
I really liked how they turned out (even strange little ground guy), but my absolute favorite thing about this project were the tags that I made for them.
I had this idea in my head of what I wanted the tags to look like, and then I made them and they turned out just how I wanted! I made them using Illustrator, which is pretty much my favorite thing now.
Our cats on loan from my Brother-in-law sadly had to say goodbye over the weekend. They were with us for about two and a half months, so they really became a part of our family, and it was hard to see them go. John and I feel very lucky to have had Tucker and Zizzou while we did, though.
Here are some of my favorite cat pics from their stay with us!
The fish tank was, as a friend remarked, like HBO for the cats. That is, once they figured out they were never going to catch the fish by swatting at the tank.
Tired kitty on the bed!
Tired kitty in the socks!
Zissou was particularly tolerant of our affection.
