For round two of our competition, the gloves are coming off and it’s pure snail-to-slug combat!
We seem to have a clear winner this time. The snail is absolutely flattening that slug! Looks like he’s down for the count.
Our earthworm referee makes the call.
The ring is made up of one of those cardboard planters you get at a garden center, filled with potting soil. The polls are dandelions.
Next up: the eating contest! But first, I’ll post the free pattern for the snails and slugs here. Soon, I promise!

So cute. Seeing this, I had a great idea for a stuffy type thing like this, but I’m not sure how you would add structural stability. Do you use anything as an armature (spelling and context purely optional) to maintain rigidity or is it all in the stuffing?

Seanna Lea—I used wire in one of my very early early toys (you can see it here), but I’ve since opted not to do so, though that does make it trickier to do more structural knitted “sculptures.” I think it’s just a personal preference, but I like the idea of a completely soft toy. And wire is kind of messy and can poke out if you’re not careful.
If you’ve seen Jan Messent’s work, she uses a lot of pipe cleaners and cardboard (I think).
