What do I do if I lost my pattern or the download link expired?
No problem—just send an email to shop [at] mochimochiland [dot] com, and we will make sure that you get your pattern. It helps if you can include your transaction ID in the email.
What is your refund/return policy?
Because the items in the Mochimochi Shop are digital and it is impossible to “return” them, refunds are granted on a case-by-case basis only.
I don’t knit, but I want one of your toys. Will you make me one?
I wish I had time to sell the toys I design, but I’m usually too busy designing them! But some one-of-a-kind toys made by me are usually available through some galleries and stores. Please email me to learn where you can find those.
Do you do custom knitting or designing?
I don’t usually do custom orders, but if you have a special or interesting project that you are dying to ask me about, I would love to hear about it.
Can I sell toys made from your patterns for a charity? How about for my own profit?
I ask that people please get my permission before selling items made from my toys. That said, I love it when my designs can be used to raise money for a good cause, so please let me know about your plans and we can discuss it. For other sales, I grant permission on a case-by-case basis, so please get in touch the details of how and where you would like to sell items made from my patterns, and how many you would like to make.
I want to try knitting one of your patterns, but I’m not sure if my skills are up to it. How do I know if I can do it?
I aim to make my patterns as easy to understand as possible by knitters with all skill levels. But if you’re unsure about purchasing a pattern before knowing if you have the skills to follow it, please check out the free patterns available on my blog first. I am also available by email to help with any questions or concerns that come up while you’re using one of my patterns.
I like your toy designs, but I don’t like double-pointed needles. Can I use a different technique?
You sure can! If you are more comfortable using a circular needle, then I recommend looking into the magic loop method of using one long circular needle to knit a small number of stitches in the round. You can find a video on magic loop at the Knitting Help website.
If you are a committed flat knitter, all of my patterns can be converted into flat knitting with just a little math. I’m also considering adding a few pattern that include instructions for both circular and flat knitting in the future, so please check back for that.
If I get stuck/ confused in a pattern, can I ask you for help?
You definitely can! I encourage you to also seek out an experienced knitter among friends or at a local yarn store, just because often it is much easier to understand an instruction from watching someone do it than from reading my (sometimes long-winded) explanation over email. And also please check out my How-to page, which has some knitting tutorials, with more coming soon. But don’t hesitate to email me if you need the help!
I want to buy a bunch of patterns. Do you have a package deal
I do have a package deal available for people who want to buy 10 patterns. Please contact me at info [at] mochimochiland [dot] com for more information.
I want to buy a pattern but I don’t want to be on your mailing list. How can I avoid that?
If you buy a pattern on my website and check out with Paypal, you will be on my mailing list. Sometimes I offer special deals to my mailing list subscribers, so I recommend it! But if you’re not interested in getting my monthly email, you can either check out using Google Checkout, which give you an opt-out choice, or you can purchase patterns from my Ravelry shop.
I would rather buy a printed version of a pattern than a PDF. Where can I get one?
There are lots of yarn stores that carry printed versions of my patterns, and some of them also sell online. Please see my list of vendors.
If your local yarn store doesn’t carry Mochimochi Land patterns, please encourage them to contact me to start an order!
Do you teach knitting classes?
I do! I love to teach toy knitting classes. I’m mostly available to teach in the New York area, and I am also often in Tulsa, OK. If you are a yarn or craft store, please get in touch!
How can I become a pattern tester?
I have all the pattern testers that I need right now, but whenever I am in need of more testers, I will put an announcement on my blog. So be sure to check the blog regularly!
What does mochimochi mean?
In Japanese, mochimochi is a descriptive word meaning “squishy,” like the traditional sweet made of sticky rice called mochi. (It’s delicious!)
You should write a book! Are you going to write a book?
I have a book coming out very soon, in fact! It’s called Knitting Mochimochi, and it will be released June 29th. You can pre-order it right now!
