Cloudy with a Chance of Fur

It’s overcast here in Oklahoma today, so it seems appropriate to share Amanda’s unusually fuzzy Rainycloud

tinycat_amanda

That’s right, it’s raining cats and dogs!

Sometimes the cutest projects happen when you combine multiple mochis into one. Amanda’s cloud reminds me of this adorable cupid scene made by Joan, which I shared here last year:

I love these guys!

The patterns used in these projects are Rainycloud, Tiny Pets, and Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi Angels.

Erika’s Operatic Mochis

Erika is a carpenter for the Seattle Opera, and she’s also a mochimochi knitter! During rehearsals for Wagner’s Ring Cycle this July, she knitted up mochi-fied characters from the opera, using the patterns from Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi as a starting point.

Who could resist these three lovely Rhine Daughters and their magic gold?

Wotan and Alberich struggle over a certain magic circlet of gold.

Siegfried and Fafner rehearsing the big fight scene!

You can see more, plus fun lego scenes from another crafty opera fan, at the Seattle Opera Facebook page. (And get a glimpse of Erika’s construction work at the homepage!)

Itty-Bitty Knitted Kitty (And Puppy)

I love that these two photos by two different knitters happened to appear side-by-side in our Flickr group.

Megan’s tiny coupon-clipping cat is all about saving pennies.

And this tiny dalmatian, made by Salla, can’t wait to spend this shiny Croatian kuna!

You can get the PDF patterns for these little guys in the Tiny Pets collection. And don’t forget to add your photos of Mochimochi knits to the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group—they will automatically be entered in our fall photo contest, and they might appear here too!

Lucy’s Tiny Superheroes

I’m not sure if the internet can handle the cuteness that is Lucy Greening’s tiny superheroes!

knitkid_lucy

Super powers of cute, unite! These guys are based on my (free) Knit Kid and Purl Girl pattern in the current issue of Petite Purls.

Lucy added her photo to the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group. If you have photos of toys you’ve knit from Mochimochi patterns, you should share them there too!

The Privy Counsel Puts Flushie in a Western

The weird and wonderful thing that is making me happy this week: a dramatic Western tale starring our own Flushie the Toilet, courtesy of The Privy Counsel, a blog about all things toilet.

Big Wayne, who was clearly lying about losing his gun, draws his own weapon in a flash.
“Mama said the pistol is the Devil’s right hand,” says a raspy-voiced gent in the company
of a beautiful blonde.

See the whole action-packed, delightfully postmodern story on The Privy Counsel!

The Tiny Cat’s Meow

This tiny cat by modern_mary says back off from her yarn!

tinycat_modernmary

I find this photo really charming. Simple and sweet! (The pattern is in the new tiny pets collection, of course!)

This might be a great time to work on an entry for our big photo contest this fall! All photos of Mochimochi toys added to our Flickr group are automatically entered. See the guidelines and the winners of last years contest for some inspiration. (I’m already thinking about what the prizes will be!)
