Knitted Weddings

When I got married five years ago, I thought it would be fun to carry a bouquet of flowers that I had knitted myself. Needless to say, that was before I had started knitting toys, or else who knows what kind of crazy bouquet I would have come up with!

Every once in a while I hear about people who have actually incorporated Mochimochi knits into weddings, which is just too cool, if you ask me. Tiny Bride & Tiny Groom from Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi are an option, of course, but it could be anything!

Tracey knitted up a flock of Tiny Perching Pigeons in wedding colors to adorn the trees of her friend’s outdoor wedding.

And Laura emailed me recently about a sweet box of Hearts that she made for her cute aficionado brother and his fiancée for their wedding.

(Both the Tiny Perching Pigeons and the Hearts are free patterns on my blog.)

I’m sure there are more Mochimochi wedding projects out there, and I’d love to see them! You can upload your pics of Mochimochi knits to the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group to share them on our gallery page, and it will automatically be entered in our next photo contest too!

Seascape of Aquatic Tinys

The coolest thing I’ve seen so far this week is this beautiful knitted seascape by Patelyne!

tinymermaid_patelyne

Patelyne created the framed scene to hold a Tiny Island, Tiny Boat, and Tiny Mermaid (all from Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi) for her niece. All of the Tinys are removable for play. So clever!

Wintry Woodins

September is a beautiful month in NYC, but somehow it’s nearly over! Fall hasn’t even officially arrived, but I can’t help thinking that soon it will be all the other months that come after September, including the really cold snowy ones…

I spotted Sparkle J’s photo of wintry Woodins in the Flickr group today, and I can’t help but be charmed by the thought of snow when I look at it.

woodins_sparklej

Are they getting ready to do some mysterious winter Woodin ceremonial dance, or just taking a vote on what to have for dinner? Either way, they’re super cute and spooky at the same time. And there’s something about that log that’s extra lovely and atmospheric.

The Tiny Bunnies Movement

I recently heard about a fun new Ravelry group that’s all about spreading happiness through bunnies!

tinybunniesmovement

The Tiny Bunnies Movement is devoted to encouraging knitters to brighten strangers’ days by knitting up miniature bunnies and leaving them with notes for people to find in random places. I love this idea!

One of the recommended patterns to use is my free Tiny Baby Bunnies pattern, and the members have also suggested other patterns in the discussion threads.

EssiHannaMaria is one member who has her bunnies all ready to go.

babybunnies_ehm

Right now The Tiny Bunnies Movement is up to 141 members, but I think if more people knew about it, their numbers might soar. I’ll definitely be keeping up with their covert bunny activities!

Rainbow Rainycloud Mobile

How lovely is this Rainycloud mobile that the sisters of Green Eyed Monster made for a kids’ room?

rainycloud_greeneyed

I love how the simple shapes sans eyes and bright colors make for a clean and happy piece. You can see more pretty pics of it on the Green Eyed Monster blog.

As always, if you’ve made something fun from a Mochimochi pattern, please add it to the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group! It will appear on the gallery page, and it will automatically be entered in our next photo contest.

Tiny Mermaid has Standards

Life in the sea might be fine for Tiny Mermaid, but let’s show some cultural sensitivity, shall we?

No, she does NOT want to go out for sushi, thank you very much.

That caption comes from Carrie, who wins a PDF pattern for Puppet Love. Congrats, Carrie!

As I mentioned on Friday, the Tiny Mermaid pattern is in my new book, Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi. So that means new mermaids are starting to appear everywhere! Like this lovely aquatastic mer-lady by Berry Market:

And Sheila gave hers some major mermaid locks:

I’m just relieved that we haven’t all become Tiny Mermaids after the hurricane!

Tiny Record Player Gets Groovy

It’s so exciting to see the first knits from Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi popping up on Ravelry and Flickr! Here’s an adorable version of Tiny Record Player that Patelyne shared in the Mochimochi Friends group on Flickr.

I love all the little touches that make the scene—lime green shag carpet, record sleeve… So cute!

Speaking of which, we need to get that contest scheduled and start figuring out prizes! Suggestions are welcome.
