Dangling Rilakkumas

John just returned from a trip to Japan, and he brought back with him cute prizes for the 2009 Mochimochi Photo Contest—including these adorable dangling “Relax Bears!”

There are lots more prizes in store for the winners of the contest, of course. I’ll announce the official details soon, but you can already enter by uploading photos of your Mochimochi Land toys to the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group.

Ossu! Robot Dogs

Check out this video of awesome hand-sewn robot dogs! They were made by Ossu! Shugeibu, the “guerrilla” crafting club from Japan.

Ossu! Shugeibu is coming to gallery hanahou next month, where they will have a show and host a workshop on October 17th in which you can make your own robot dog! Email info@galleryhanahou.com for more info and to sign up.

Bye, Cats

Our cats on loan from my Brother-in-law sadly had to say goodbye over the weekend. They were with us for about two and a half months, so they really became a part of our family, and it was hard to see them go. John and I feel very lucky to have had Tucker and Zizzou while we did, though.

Here are some of my favorite cat pics from their stay with us!

The fish tank was, as a friend remarked, like HBO for the cats. That is, once they figured out they were never going to catch the fish by swatting at the tank.

Zissou was particularly tolerant of our affection.

We will miss you, cats!

John Poses with Luvgun

About a year ago, I suffered an epic hard drive crash that made me lose tons of files. Among those lost were some good photos of Luvgun. Sad! John recently agreed to a quick photo shoot with everyone’s favorite knitted gun to replace the lost files, and I ended up liking the new photos much better than the originals!

Here are some of my favorite shots. They go from James Bondian to… something else entirely.

Thank you for modeling, John!

Look Cats!

Hey look we have cats!

tuckerzissou

Their names are Tucker and Zissou, and they’re brothers who are almost identical. They are John’s brother’s cats, and they’re staying with us for a couple of months while he relocates.

They are so cute and fun! Zissou loves playing with twist ties (specifically the big kind that hold together electronics cables), sitting in laps, and sleeping on plastic bags. Tucker loves playing with rubber bands (specifically cloth-covered hair bands), getting brushed, and sleeping in piles of socks.

I wish we could keep them forever! But they are also great trial kitties, and they’ve been so much fun that now we are sure that we want to get cats of our own sometime very soon.
