Giant Things Attacking Cities

Luv-able and Hug-able, an encore of last year’s plush show, will open at gallery hanahou here in NYC in a little over two weeks! The show will feature strange and adorable creations by 30-plus artists and crafters, including a bunch of new recommendations from the Plush You and a selection of Japanese artists.

My own contribution includes these knitted scenes of giant things attacking cities.

Squirrels, Arggghh!

Snails, oh no!

The opening party for Luv-able and Hug-able will be held on December 4th, 6-9 pm, so please save the date if you’re in the NY area! There will also be a special plush-making workshop lead by the amazing Jenny Harada on December 13. (Space is very limited, so email info@galleryhanahou.com if you’re interested.)

I’ll be posting more information and photos of the plushes in the show in the coming weeks.

Update: Thank you to Kristen for posting on the Plush You! blog !

Plush You! This Friday

It’s time again for Plush You!, the annual plush show held at Schmancy in Seattle.

This year might just be the best ever, with original plushes from over 100 artists, including some specially recommended by gallery hanahou.

Also, there’s me! You can go see my three “Snails vs. Slugs” pieces in person.

BOO!

Say hello to October, and say hello to the newest pattern in the Mochimochi Shop: Boo the Bat!

boothebat

Boo’s favorite word is…BOO!
Boo’s second-favorite word? YAHTZEE!

This little bat is a quick knit featuring wraparound wings and feet that can hang from your finger or the nearest tree branch.

Pattern techniques include knitting in the round on double-pointed needles, picking up stitches, and mattress stitch.

Download the PDF pattern here!

Update: Thank you to Jenny at the Craft blog, Lime & Violet, and Kristen at the Plush You! blog for posting about Boo!

New Mochimochi Logo

If you haven’t noticed, there’s a shiny new logo at the top of the blog!

What you see is about the extent of my abilities using Adobe Illustrator, but I’m pretty happy with it. (Is it obvious that the Os are Uh-Ohs?)

Update: Oops I forgot to mention that using the Uh-Ohs in the logo was all John’s idea. Thank you John!

Announcing Pundit Babies!

Election season is now at full tilt. Get through the coming months of negative ads, dodgy debates, and endless analysis with a new pattern from the Mochimochi Shop!
