A Nest of Tiny Baby Bunnies

I’m having a bit of knitter’s block this morning, and so today’s tiny thing is a bit delayed. (Suggestions are welcome!) In the meantime, check out this amazing nest of Tiny Baby Bunnies that Mochimochi friend Sheila made this week.

I can’t get over this cuteness! The fun fur grass is an excellent touch too. Somebody is going to have a very happy Easter, I suspect.

Multiplying Bunnies

Since I posted the free pattern on Monday, Tiny Baby Bunnies have been multiplying like you-know-whats! 53 projects have been posted on Ravelry so far, and I have a feeling that number will jump before Easter. Here are just a few that caught my eye…

Ruskin’s bunnies had a romp in the flowers!

Spbuckler added some mini embellishments for a dolled-up bunny.

m3clarity’s brown worsted bunny has an appetite for candy…

And Coffee & Cream made a mama bunny to go with her baby bunnies by using DK yarn.

Bluebird of Happiness

Look who I found on Ravelry!

puppetlove_basaltimum

Basaltimum made this bluebird of happiness using my Puppet Love pattern. I’m impressed by the clever color work! I asked her how she did it, and this was her reply:

I put random splashes of the contrasting color throughout the body to make it in a fair isle style. I didn’t chart out the colorwork, just let it flow. I used floats to do the head although that part would have worked as panels.

If you’re a Ravelry user, you can see more pics of her construction on her project page. And if you’ve done a cute mod on a Mochimochi pattern, please share it with us in the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group.

Let’s hope this bluebird is bringing springtime weather soon. I for one have had enough of the 30s and 40s!

The Royal Pea

Here’s a new one: Darcy modified the body of the Tiny Lion (from Tiny Things Collection 2) to make a royal pea!

tinylion_darcy

…as in The Princess and the Pea, for a fairy tale swap she did with other knitters. How fun!

I love this photo, and the tiny crown (Darcy’s own design) is adorable. I’m realizing that this is a fairy tale I haven’t thought about in a long time. Let’s hope this little pea doesn’t get squashed under a tower of mattresses anytime soon!

Coos and Coys for Girls and Boys

Since moving to New York a few years back, I’ve enjoyed Valentines Day more. Seeing many of the normally stoic subway commuters carrying around goofy stuffed animals and bunches of flowers for a day is kind of touching. I’m hoping that a few people out there somewhere will be carrying a pair of knitted lovebirds today too!

Here are some coo-able Coos and Coys made by my awesome pattern testers, most of whom used a surprisingly similar color palate…

Thank you to Kari, Jennifer, Marilyn, and Marti for the test! There are also other Coos and Coys with neat variations on Ravelry.

And if you need a last-minute Valentine, remember that you can download free Coo and Coy ones here.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
