New Holiday Pattern Package

In the spirit of Black Friday, today we’re debuting a new Holiday Pattern Package!

holidaypackage

Now you can get four Mochimochi holiday patterns—Mochimochi Elves, Mochimochi Reindeer, Tiny Snowmen, and TIny Santas—for $10! Elves and Reindeer are huggable friends that take a day or two to knit, and Teeny-Tiny Snowmen and Santas can each be knit up in an hour or two for ornaments and stocking stuffers!

The pattern package is available as an instant PDF download in the Mochimochi Shop.

New Tiny Mochis Pattern Collection!

Since the Gnomes vs Snowmen madness is now winding down, I think it’s high time for a new collection of Tiny Mochi patterns!

tinys6_avail

These brand-new patterns are some of my favorites from the past year or so of the Tiny series. With just a little time and scrap yarn, you could host a mini bowling tournament, outfit your desk with a family of baby koalas, whip up a pair of ice cream earrings, or make some acorn Thanksgiving favors for next week!

The pattern collection is now available as a PDF download for $5 in the Mochimochi Shop!

Gnomes vs Snowmen Opens Thursday!

It’s almost time for the big fight! My new show, Gnomes vs Snowmen, opens this Thursday at gallery hanahou in NYC. It’s been an exhausting two months-plus putting together this show, but for me, it might be my most exciting project to date.

The show is made up of 45 foot-long panels that will be exhibited along the walls of the gallery. Here’s a little sneak peek of two of them!

You can see a few more pieces in the pre-sale catalog PDF.

If you’re in the NYC area, I hope to see you at the reception (6-8 pm this Thursday), or stop by while the show is up through November 18th.

Show dates: November 3rd – 18th
Opening reception: Thursday, November 3rd, 6-8pm
RSVP: info@galleryhanahou.com
(Please note: You do not need a Pictoplasma pass & there is no admission fee to view this exhibit)

Announcing the 2011 Mochimochi Photo Contest!

pc11_announce

Needles ready? Camera set? It’s now officially time to enter the 5th annual Mochimochi Photo Contest! Woohoo!

Once again, we’re looking for the cutest, funniest, most interesting photos of Mochimochi Land toys. All you have to do to enter is upload your photo(s) to the Mochimochi Friends group on Flickr by Monday, November 21st.

Winners will receive cute goodies from Japan and gift certificates from our generous sponsors Knit Picks and Schmancy!

Eligibility

To be eligible, your photo must contain at least one knitted toy made from a Mochimochi Land pattern. This can be a pattern from the Mochimochi Shop, a pattern from Knitting Mochimochi or Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi, or one of the free patterns on the Mochimochi Blog. The pattern may be modified, but not beyond recognition from the original design.

How to enter

Simply upload your photo(s) to the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group. If you don’t have a Flickr account, it is free and easy to register (though we recommend signing up as soon as possible, because it takes a little time for your account to be approved for sharing photos in a group). You can upload as many photos as you want, within reason.

(All photos uploaded since the deadline of the 2010 photo contest last year are already entered in this year’s contest!)

Deadline

The last day to enter the contest is November 21st, 2011. We’ll announce the semi-finalists shortly thereafter here on the blog, then everyone will be able to vote for their favorites! So be sure to check the blog in November.

Prizes!

First place prize will be a bunch of cute goodies from Japan, a $25 gift certificate to the Mochimochi Shop, a $50 gift certificate to Knit Picks (thank you Knit Picks!), and a $25 gift certificate to Schmancy (thank you Schmancy!).

Second place prize will be a handful of cute goodies from Japan, a $15 gift certificate to Mochimochi Land, and a $10 gift certificate to Knit Picks.

Third place prize will be a $10 gift certificate to Mochimochi Land and a $10 gift certificate to Knit Picks.

So get those needles clicking and those cameras snapping!

Gnomes vs. Snowmen this November in NYC

I’m super-excited to announce that I’m working on a new solo show for the fall!

gvs_announce1

“Gnomes vs. Snowmen: The Battle for Mochimochi Land” will open November 3rd at gallery hanahou in NYC. The installation will be an epic knitted battle scene between two of my favorite characters. Lots of cuteness and chaos is promised, with a cast of hundreds!

The show will be part of the Character Walk for the upcoming Pictoplasma Festival in NYC, but it’s also open to everyone through November 18th.

If you’re in the NYC area, I hope to see you at the opening on November 3rd, at 6-8 pm (RSVP to info@galleryhanahou.com). I’ll also be sharing lots of pics from the show here on the blog.

Introducing Gobbledyghost!

A mysterious new creature just made its home in the Mochimochi Shop!

gg_announce1

Because why should people have all the fun? Goblins want to dress up for Halloween too!

gg_announce2

It’s been a really long time since I created a Halloween pattern, so I’m psyched to introduce
Gobbledyghost
, the ghost costume-wearing goblin! With or without his costume, Gobbledyghost is spookily cute and a quick knitting project.

The pattern is now available as a $5 PDF download in the Mochimochi Shop!

Tiny Penguin and Tiny Santa Kits Now Available

Just added kits for these guys to the Mochimochi Shop!

penguinsantakit1

Each kit comes with the pattern and enough fingering-weight yarn (Cascade Heritage, a wool/nylon blend) and stuffing to make three penguins or two Santas. You’ll just need size 1 US double-pointed needles and a tapestry needle. The kits are an easy way to take tiny knitting on the go, and they also make great gifts for knitters!

All seven kits are available for $12 each in the Mochimochi Shop.
