tinys5_announce

These are some of my recent favorites from the ongoing Tiny series, and your comments and emails tell me that many of you want to knit them too!

You need fingering-weight sock yarn, size one needles, and just a few minutes to whip these guys up. As always, you can scale up the patterns just by using bigger yarn and needles.

This PDF pattern collection is available for $5 right here!

The cross-stitch pattern comes with both a symbol chart and a color chart for easy reading. Good for geeks of all ages!

The PDF pattern is now available as a $5 download right here.

If you’re intrigued but have never cross-stitched before, check out my new beginner’s tutorial on the How To page.

Mochimochi Worlds at Pictoplasma Festival

Updates:

More photos of the planets

pictoplasma1

This big round bear, along with the giant ball of yarn and the snowman that I’ve recently posted, is going with me to Berlin next month to be a part of the Pictoplasma Festival, an annual celebration of character art!

My pieces will be on exhibit from April 6th through the 10th in a new installation called “Mochimochi Worlds,” held at Smallspace gallery. If you’re in the area, please join us for the opening at 7 pm on April 6th!

The show will be part of the Pictoplasma Character Walk that is open to the public.

I’m so excited to be involved in the festival, and I’ve been having a blast working on this new show—it will be made up of nine randomly-themed planets and other celestial bodies. Knitters who stop by the gallery will be able to pick up patterns to make some of the alien life forms they see.

I can’t wait to go to Berlin for the first time and see what other character madness is happening at the festival!

Thank you to Lion Brand for providing Hometown USA and Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn for the big planet bodies.

Tiny Kits

A few months ago, I started putting together kits for five of my Tiny patterns. I’ve been trying them out at some craft shows and also in a few shops—by all accounts, they’ve been a hit!

tinykits

Each kit contains the pattern, enough yarn to make 2 or 3 of the tiny projects (depending on the kit), and stuffing. I’m thinking about adding these to my own shop sometime soon, but for now they’re just available in retail stores. In NYC, you can find them at Knitty City, Brooklyn General, and Saffron. They are also carried at Schmancy in Seattle and at Clay Wood & Cotton in Beacon, NY.

If you’re a retailer interested in the kits, please contact me at info [at] mochimochiland [dot] com. If you’re interested in the kits but not a retailer, please encourage your LYS or local crafty boutique to get in touch!

Coo and Coy Pattern and FREE Valentines!

The lovebirds have landed! Now you can knit Coo and Coy: two bashful birds of a feather who can connect at the wing for a heart-shaped duo.

Techniques include knitting in the round on double-pointed needles and mattress stitch. They can be knit up in just a couple of days, so there’s plenty of time to make one for you and your sweetheart before February 14th!

The PDF pattern is available for $5 in the Mochimochi Shop.

And these shy guys are sharing some extra love with a FREE sheet of Coo and Coy valentines!

Mochimochi at BUST Craftacular

This is a big month for Mochimochi “Real World” edition—on December 12th (Sunday) I’ll be bringing Mochimochi Land to the BUST Craftacular in NYC!

craftacular2010

It’s being held at New York City’s Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, NYC) on December 12, 2010 from 10:00am – 8:00pm. Entrance is $2 at the door.

As you know if you’ve spent much time on my website, most of what I do involves designing a sample and then concentrating on taking photos and creating PDFs, but for this event, I’ve been getting really hands-on with small batches of knited tiny creatures that I’ll be selling in person. Because contrary to my hopes for the world, most people do not knit, but some still might like to have a Tiny Bee of their own. I’ve also been putting together some tiny knit kits, and I’m excited to see knitters’ reactions to them.

So if you’re in New York this weekend, please come find me and say hi! (I’ll be sharing a booth with Toasty Time!)
