It’s pretty impossible to show all of the details here, but after the show is over I’m going to try putting together a bigger interactive feature that will include more photos and the written descriptions that are on the gallery walls.

I’ve dropped in the gallery a few times since the show opened, and I’ve been really happy to see new visitors every time! That’s largely due to a feature in The Village Voice. Here’s some more press for the show since then:

Super Cute Kawaii
GoSee
pica + pixel
Vevant

Most of the elements in the installation are available for purchase as separate pieces, which you can view and order via the gallery hanahou online shop. And of course it’s up through the end of the month, so come check it out if you find yourself in NYC!

November 4: Knitting Mochimochi Talk at Loops, Tulsa

loopslogoIf you’re in the Tulsa area, please join me on November 4th at Loops (the Utica Square location) for a talk! I’ll be there at 6-8 pm with the whole knitted cast from my book Knitting Mochimochi, and I’ll discuss how I came up with the designs, some toy knitting tips, and anything else you want to talk about. Brandi Simons, the local photographer who took all the photos from the book in the Tulsa area, will also be there.

There will also be a book and yarn giveaway, so mark your calendar!

An Incredible Opening Night!

Last night was just amazing. The opening went better than I could have imagined, with a fantastic crowd of good friends and other generally awesome people.

Thank you to everyone who came out! Thank you especially to everyone at gallery hanahou for making it happen: Koko, Azusa, Erika, Gabe, and Laura. And Cascade for supplying allll of the yarn that went into this installation!

I was thrilled that the show got some some great press, too!

My installation will be up at gallery hanahou in NYC through October 29th, and more photos will appear here soon!

Tiny Things Collection 3 Patterns Now Available!

Just added to the Mochimochi Shop!

tinys3_avail

What do a gnome, a frog, a stack of pancakes, and a trash can have in common? The answer is completely nothing, and that’s what makes the newest Tiny Things pattern collection so much random cute fun.

I chose four of my favorite designs from my ongoing Tiny series for this new pattern collection. All use fingering weight yarn and size 1 double-pointed needles, and the simple techniques include picking up stitches and I-cord.

As always, if you’re in a not-so-tiny mood, these projects can be scaled up easily by using thicker yarn and larger needles.

You can buy the PDF pattern collection for $5 here!

Interview on Yarncraft Podcast

Interested to learn about how I design all of my patterns? You can hear me talk about my design process on episode 72 of the YarnCraft podcast, which went live today. (Spoiler alert: I way prefer experimentation and frogging over swatching and math!)

The podcast also includes interviews with designers Margaret Hubert and Kristin Omdahl—very different designers, very different processes!

Thank you for the interview, Zontee!
