Two More Weeks To Enter!

You now have just under two more weeks to enter the Mochimochi Photo Contest! Have you entered yet?

We’ve already gotten some adorable and hilarious entries. I don’t want to single out any photos just yet, but you can see all of the entries so far at the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group:

flickrpage

Two weeks—by July 31—is plenty of time to knit up a Mochimochi Land toy, take a photo, and upload it to Flickr, so get started if you haven’t done these three things! There are fabulous prizes straight from Japan for first, second, and third place winners.

Check out all the contest details here, and see some of the aforementioned fabulous prizes here.

Voting will start in early August, so be sure to check back here then!

Dust Bunnies for the HRRN

A Texas knitter named Kathy (who designs her own patterns at Platypus Dreams) recently contacted me about knitting some Dust Bunnies to raffle off at a fund raiser for the House Rabbit Resource Network, or HRRN, an organization that educates the public about proper care of rabbits and facilitates rabbit rescues and adoptions. How appropriate for the little guys!

Kathy’s Dust Bunnies attended HHRN’s 15th Anniversary Party, where they mingled with members and their live rabbits. Here are some of the photos from the party that Kathy shared with me:

Who knew bunnies like to be so cozy?

And the Dust Bunnies were adopted by the raffle winner!

I’m really happy that the Dust Bunnies could help the HHRN. If you have a charity you’d like to make or sell Mochimochi Land toys for, let me know! (You can email me at info [at] mochimochiland [dot] com.) I love to know what causes the toys are helping, and it’s great to see photos too!

The First-Ever Mochimochi Class!

Yesterday was the first-ever Mochimochi class, held at Loops in Tulsa!

I was a little nervous at first—I’m so used to conveying knitting techniques through typing and photos, and not through speaking and demonstrating—but the Loops staff put me totally at ease, and the class attendees were wonderful!

Everybody got started on their own Looper using double-pointed needles and some simple toy-making techniques.

Thank you to everyone to who was there for the class. I’ll be back at Loops tomorrow for another one—I can’t wait!

New Pattern and Classes at Loops This Week!

I’m thrilled to announce that the pattern for Looper is now available at Loops!

looper_yellow

Looper is a new Mochimochi Land pattern created especially for Loops yarn store in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where it will be exclusively available through the end of 2008. Looper is a cuddly creature with a prehensile tail, perfect for looping around doorknobs, bedposts, and you!

In addition to the Looper pattern, Loops is also now carrying a variety of other printed Mochimochi Land patterns in its online shop. So for those of you who prefer paper and ink over printing out a pdf, now you can order online.

Also, if you’re in the Tulsa area this week, I’m teaching the Looper pattern as a class on Thursday (6/19) and Saturday (6/21), with a “pattern signing” (ha) open to the public on Saturday at 3 pm at Loops. (Check out the Loops class schedule for class information.) I hope to see you Tulsans there. Bring your Mochimochi Land toys!

I’ve already blogged about a couple of the amazing prizes in store for the winner of this year’s Mochimochi Photo Contest here and here. But wait! There’s more.

Sidebar Buttons

Hi, Mochimochi friends. John here. Some of you may have been having trouble with the sidebar buttons for the photo contest and the free patterns, particularly if you were using Firefox. Sorry about that. It was a little server-configuration glitch that I introduced while I was upgrading Mochimochi Land’s blog software. The buttons should be working now (you might have to reload, but probably not). Please let us know if you have any other problems. Thanks for your patience!
