People of Ann Arbor, come take a stop-motion animation workshop with me on July 1st at the Ann Arbor District Library!
The workshop is 2-5pm and is open to everyone from 6th graders to adults. I’m going to talk about a bit of my animation work, and then we’ll all try our hand at making fun animations together as teams. We’re going to use a free mobile app, so that means you can take your skills home with you and continue making more animations on your own if you like.

Tomorrow (June 10th) is World Wide Knit in Public Day, an opportunity to show the world what actual knitters look like. (And maybe also teach a few people how it’s done!) You can go knit somewhere on your own, with a group of friends, or you can find a more organized happening near you via the WWKIPDAY website.
Of course, every day can be WWKIP Day. Just yesterday I was knitting at a coffee shop as a result met the sweetest older lady who’s been knitting and crocheting since she was 12. Everybody knows somebody who does a yarn craft, so it’s cool to see who will approach you with a story.
Fresh off their Spring 2017 Disco Tour, the gnomes of Funky Fleece fame are ready to dance their way into your hands!
Not a pattern, but real physical inhabitants of Mochimochi Land, each gnome is hand knitted and needle felted by me (Anna) in Chicago, and each is stitched to his own personal sparkly felt disco tile for self-standing superpowers.
These guys are available in blind boxes, so you may get a mullet gnome, an afro gnome, or a mohawk gnome.

I’ve been happily surprised by just how many people are ordering kits for Mystery Kit May! I’ve run out of my regular mochi stickers, in fact, and am now shipping out packages with funky gnomes to greet the recipients.

This technique is used in patterns for the tiny narwhal, the Thwickeds and the tiny parrot, among others.
This technique is a super easy way to bind off live stitches for a neat seam that grafts the stitches together. It’s a common knitting technique, but I’m sharing a tutorial of my own because my technique is different from most. (I don’t turn the knitting inside out first, because most of my patterns are constructed out of closed shapes that can’t be turned right side out again.)
