See this post for the winning rhymes by Laura and Mariette!
I took a quick break from piano knitting this morning to fashion this snowy little guy!
I don’t know if yetis typically have horns, but this one told me he needed them for opening cans of beans.
Let’s put a twist on our regular caption contest, and have a Tiny Yeti Rhyme-off! Give us your cutest, scariest, silliest Tiny Yeti rhyme in the comments, and we’ll pick our favorite on Monday to win…
A miraculous thing is the Yeti.
He’s bright white, so he won’t eat spaghetti.
He eats only Zingers,
With his small Yeti fingers.
Then out for a mani and pedi.
Don’t you fret or run for your life.
All that grumbling from Tiny Yeti
is him just waiting for his wife.
“The blue scarf looks just fine, Betti!”
When yetis crave some beans on toast,
Knitted beans are what they love most.
They use their horns to open the tin,
Climb up the side and dive right in!
Tiny Yeti
Small and round
Always on the cold, cold ground
Soon in his tiny life
He’ll have purled his Yeti Wife
Next in Tiny Yeti’s future
Is a small bundle, a Yeti creature!
Tiny Haiku:
Tiny Yeti lives
breathing in bitter cold air
Hawaii’s his dream
Oh, no! said the tiny white yeti,
I awoke in the wide Serengeti!
The wildebeests here
Have nothing to fear
‘Cause I can’t make a move; I’m too sweaty!
Here is a tiny white yeti
Who loves meatballs and beans and spaghetti.
He once had the flu
And he sneezed an “Achoooo!”
And fumbled around, quite unsteady.
A knitter yelled out YETI!
(Not to be confused with SETI)
But he’s not abominable
’cause he’s so adorable
He’s a Teeny Tiny white and blue Yeti.
TIny Yeti is quite fearsome, clearly.
He’s scary, but we love him the more dearly.
He roars and he roars,
From the doors to the floors,
And behaves in a way most cavalierly!
Tiny Yeti, oh so scary,
Horns so blue, and fur looks hairy.
He roars a loud roar, even though he is so tiny
but from this photo, we cannot see his hiney.
“Oh I am so sorry to frighten you! I must look like a yeti in this get-up.”
There is a fearsome creature,
with one adorable feature
The pristine white Tiny Yeti
Blue horns give him panache,
but he eats without ganache
the most delicious tubetti!
Buy a yeti; they’re on sale!

No mess, no worry, no strife, no care!
A yeti shows your friends your flair!
A stylish creature, clean and white,
They won’t keep you awake all night.

They love to frequently write on blogs.

There once was a yeti name Betty
She liked to turn snow to confetti
*to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”
Lonely Yeti in the snow,
Where did all your buddies go?
You hide in the woods at night
Wanting only to give fright!
Your lonely days are at their end,
I’ll knit you up a little friend!
There was a small Yeti named Yardley
How did he get his name, you ask?
The answer is simple -think of the tiny knitting task-
Of yarn yardage the Yeti used hardly!
There once was a blue horned yeti
Who name was Gerald Von Geti
A studious fellow
Really quite mellow
But opening cans made him sweaty
His blue horns punctured the cans
The brown beans fell in his hands
He’d munch his lunch
With such a loud scrunch
It could be heard all the way to Franz
A Tiny Yeti Limerick
A wee tiny yeti named Mose
Lived up where the coldest wind blows.
When captured by a knitter
Who photoed him for Twitter
He shouted “Stop pinching my toes!”
Tiny yeti began his life
alone so long ago
he was always grumpy , and sort of lumpy
beacause he had no sweater
to protect his fur
So he captured a knitter
and is no longer bitter
for he is covered in woolies
forever more
There once was a tiny white Yeti,
Who was in love with a girl named Betty,
She ate mixed greens,
He ate white beans,
They had spinach and spaghetti.
His horns may be blue but he has a warm red heart!
Tiny Yeti likes to rhyme
But he’s no better than a lime
So he ends every word
He says with an “e” slurred
Like how he told a bird
“Ie madee somee icee creame
wante toe trye somee?
Snowe flavore ise alle Ie gote”
And the bird flew away chirping eeeee
For he was a parrote!
Mama Yeti makes a great bean
Tiny is hungry- licks his plate clean
Tiny Yeti has a tiny roar
He cries and cries and cries for more
Mama Yeti cannot hear
Tiny tears then fall, quite sincere
For many a day Tiny’s stomach grumbles
And that’s the way the yeti crumbles?
“Have you ever tried using a Neti?”
A friend asked our hero the Yeti…
“A WHAD?!?” he lamented
For his nose was cemented
He’d miss his first trip to the Getty :(
*In case the reader may not be aware: once every three years, Yetis make the difficult but necessary pilgrimage to Los Angeles in order to maintain their meager baseline level of vitamin D. Because all Yetis have a deep and consuming obsession with fine art, the events in our story indicate a devastating turn for our protagonist. He will most likely need several rounds of fur-braiding therapy, and of course time, to recover from such a great emotional blow.
Yeti, Yeti, sometimes petty
How does your project grow?
With a purl and a knit and a yarn over stitch
What do I get to show the next row?
what is the thing that we all love
although we may not know it
well a small creature that i know
you cannot plant or grow it
you cannot bake or rake or take it
the only thing to do is make it
its a tiny tiny Yeti
that fits into your hand
although you will not find him in the sea or sun
or sand
hell be found inside your pocket
or your bag or purse
so now you know the secret to my tiny tiny
verse

There once was a yeti named Betty.
Who often could be very petty.
To whom she felt hate,
She often would make
Into meatballs to eat with spaghetti.
The sweet tiny yeti
Feeling kind of petty
Went to his mother for aid.
No knitter was he
Though he wished he could be
For he was very, very afraid.
“White” he cried!
Is so easily dyed!
Which why I can only eat beans.
But out there he knew
Just out of his view
Was a world of exotic cuisines.
A plethora of berries
Big bright red cherries
All looked to be to his taste.
But the stains they’d impose
Upon his white clothes
Would leave him most disgraced.
The solution however
He felt was most clever
And for it his mother was key.
Just simple knit sweater
Would remove his fetters
He stood and solemnly decreed.
So she worked both day and night
Though she felt the sweater might
Leave her son quite sweaty.
But the tiny yeti felt
It was wonderfully svelte
For he was finally able to eat spaghetti!
All is silent on the mountain white,
Only the stars that burn so bright.
The full moon takes its place in the sky,
what a wonderful night, with the moon so high!
But then a dark shape blocks the moon’s regal light,
who dared to destroy this beautiful night?!
Then there stood a yeti, bathed in ligh and snow,
not seeming to know which way to go.
The howling wind rustled his fur,
whispering secrets, making him sure,
finnaly leaving, going out of sight,
dissapering into the starry night.
there once was a tiny wooly Yeti
who loved to dance to Tom Petty
but he was Heartbroken
when his iPod was smokin’
‘cos his dancing made him really quite sweaty
When I see the tiny yeti,
I get all sweaty,
He stands in the snow,
As I wonder where to go,
He sheds a tear,
I realize he is the one with fear,
He fits in the palm of my hand,
I decide that he big or small is the best of all

One day in December,
Or was it November,
A knitter cast on her creation,
With .00 needles,
And sock weight yarn,
She began to purl and knit.
In less than an hour,
She had a monster,
Sized to fit in a matchbox,
She let him loose in the kitchen,
And in less than an hour,
He had picked clean the fridge.
Soon after he had devoured,
She saw he seemed lonely,
So she cast on a friend,
And in less than an hour,
She had made him a fuzzy companion.
But ’twas a mistake,
For soon after she bound off,
The two monsters had run to the kitchen,
When our friend rushed in,
It was a pitiful sight,
As it was a mess,
Of course she broke down,
And decided she’d rather make a hat.
