Couture Cross Stitch

This has been a nice break from endless knitting, started over the Thanksgiving holiday.

My awesome mother-in-law Bonney gave me the chart, which was created by Kyoko Maruoka, aka Gera. Her designs are way cuter than most traditional cross stitch.

(My finished cross stitch will hopefully resemble the above in the end.)

Outside of Japan, you can get them from superbuzzy. But this cute Japanese import doesn’t come cheap—it’s$17.95 for just the charts to the above design, NOT a kit. No wonder Bonney thought she was getting kits, and ordered multiples of the same design! Well, at least I’m getting full enjoyment out of this project.

  1. OMG, do I have time to pick up cross-stitching, too? That is so cute. I love it. When I was a kid, I remember using my allowance to buy a cross-stitching kit. Your chart is way better!

  2. Anna, did you see the Christmas patterns? I don’t think the pictures do them justice. I love all of them!

  3. Ha, there are plenty of things I can’t do. Crewel, illustration, and public speaking come to mind.

And cross stitch is super easy! I’m even thinking about trying to make some of my own designs with graph paper. Because I don’t have enough to do as it is.

  4. Oh, I LOVE cross-stitch! I made a little bird on a branch for s present. They are so easy, and sometimes fast ( if there small )

  5. This is just beautiful Anna – I used to do a lot of cross-stitch – super fun !! I hope you do come up with some designs of your own!!

  6. I love cross-stitch, and I have seen lots of things as cute as that (though more Americana in feel). It’s just so sad that cross-stitch takes so much more time than knitting, or I would still be doing it all the time!
