That’s right, it’s time for the first-ever contest in Mochimochi Land!
I’m looking for the cutest, funniest, most original photos featuring toys made from Mochimochi Land patterns. There will probably be several winners, but the grand prize will be a box full of cute and unusual goodies from Japan: craft books and supplies, strange and funny toys, stationery, and more!
The winner(s) will be chosen from photos uploaded to the Mochimochi Friends group on Flickr. All photos that are already uploaded are already entered to win! But I’m hoping to get a whole lot more entries.
Here are the guidelines:
To be eligible, your photo must contain at least one toy made from a Mochimochi Land pattern. This can either be a pattern from the Mochimochi Shop, or one of the free patterns on the Mochimochi Blog. The pattern may be modified, but not beyond recognition from the original pattern.
How to enter
Simply upload your photo(s) to the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group. If you don’t have a Flickr account, it is free and easy to register (though I would recommend signing up as soon as possible, because it takes a little time for your account to be approved for sharing photos in a group). You can upload as many photos as you want, but please try to be reasonable!
The last day to enter the contest is November 30th. I’ll be announcing the winner(s) shortly thereafter. Before I announce to everyone, I will contact the winner(s) for their home address for shipping.
As I mentioned, all of the photos that are already in the group are already entered in the contest. And there are some great ones! Here are a few, to get you inspired:

So get knitting and shooting! If you have any questions, you can leave comments to this post, or email me at info [at] mochimochiland [dot] com.
I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!
Update 10/2/07: We now have a button for the contest (see the top right side of the screen). Feel free to swipe it and help spread the word!
Update 10/7/07: As discussed in the comments to this post, everyone will be able to vote for their favorite photo once finalists have been selected. Make sure to check back for voting in early December!

Yeah! What a great contest!!! (hmmm, what shall I knit up next??? my silly brain is going nuts. lol)
Aha, what a great idea! Ive been lurking for months now, quietly and madly knitting away, creating Mochi-based animuals. They dont always end up like the pattern says they should, but I try xD I think I will enter some of my Bobs, if its OK to enter more then once?
Rebecca, I’m looking forward to seeing what you will make and photograph next!
Sevous – I’d love to see your Bob-based toys. And yes, you can enter as many times as you like (sorry if I didn’t make that clear)!
Well ive posted the photos, possibly got a wee bit silly with the whole thing, but isnt that the point, to have fun? =D Ive entered three of my Bobs (in two photos) so far, wondering what I can do with my 4th Bob for the next photo shoot!
Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I’m in. I just finished my first Bob. I’ve got another on the needles as we speak. Oh the places they will go!
Great to see so many photos of Bobs entered! These guys seem to get up to a lot of trouble when no one’s looking….
haha! i can’t stop laughing about my beau’s *very* un-photogenic hobbit toes being used to promote a contest for the most photogenic knit toys around! :D hahaha HA!
So cute! I love those little sausage dogs and wish I could make them, but I am not at that skill level yet. :-/ Can’t wait to see all the photos though. Are you posting them online for people to vote or are you just picking them yourself?
I would love to have everyone vote on the photos, MK! I’ll have to think of a good way to do that. (Any suggestions?)
You could post a poll on your website with your top ten choices and people could vote that way. There are lots of poll creators on the web.
Great idea! John tells me that he can set that up, so that’s what we’ll do!
I just found your blog and your fantastical creations through Knitty – am so glad I dropped by. My brain is definitely humming with ideas for this contest now …
Also, I was wondering if you’d mind if I posted about your contest on a new blog that I started: WiKnit (i.e. win knit). WiKnit is meant to get the word out about contests on knitting blogs. I’d love to put up a blurb about this, if it’s alright with you!
Thank you for your nice comment! Yes, please feel free to link to my photo contest and use the images from my blog for it. It sounds like a great blog that you’re working on.
I do hope you’ll enter the photo contest yourself!
