The Knitted Odd-bod Bunch

I’m very excited about this new book of knitted toy patterns!

The Knitted Odd-bod Bunch contains 35 patterns by Donna Wilson, a UK designer whom I hadn’t previously heard of. I love her funny and artistic versions of animals! I especially like the design of her book and its photography, most of which places the knitted creatures in scenes with hand-illustrated cardboard cutouts as props and scenery elements.

Looking at her website, it seems that Donna mainly concentrates on selling her finished toys and other goods instead of knitting patterns. It’s neat that she uses her designs in such a broad way, something I’ve been thinking about for myself lately.

  1. What a wonderful designer! Thank you for introducing Donna Wilson to me. I read the interview on Donna’s site. Kudos to her for having pieces assembled in Scotland. Another great designer with a heart.

  2. I saw this on Ravelry this week! There is a great double-headed rabbit with four ears and two faces, but only two arms and legs. Very cute

  3. i bought this book the other day (being a knitter from scotland and seeing her work in the Dundee contempory arts show) i just had to as her work is FANTASTIC….ooh the book does not dissapoint! some really cute and weird stuff.

  4. Strange, I saw this in the local bookshop the other day, but my student loan doesn’t come through for a while yet, so it’s mostly just lusting for the moment! I really love her designs, quirky yet not soo offbeat that they wouldn’t be practical as kids toys. Right at the top of my list!
