Crazy Wearables for Luv-able + Hug-able
I had a blast making my plushes for this year’s “Luv-able + Hug-able” show at gallery hanahou in NYC. The theme was “Wearable,” so I took it literally with knitted jewelry!

I haven’t come up with a name for these guys yet, so let me know if you have suggestions!
This year’s show is going to be the biggest ever, with more than 50 plush artists from around the world. Check out all the info at the gallery website. And join us on December 9th for the opening!
By the way, we’ll have the honorable mentions from the photo contest up here soon, so be sure to keep checking the blog!

For cuteness! They remind me of the “warm fuzzies” from elementary school.

I think they should be called Jewel-ees

OMG! It’s all adorable, but the rings are my favorite! I like the Jewelees suggestion. The rings remind me of skittles or peeps, the colors are so bright and fun!

hah, i love those rings! super cute. i think impractical wearables are hilarious. that’s my favorite section of your book, along with the random objects.
how about calling them “carats”? plus an adjective starting with C – cozy carats, cuddly carats?

adorable!
I usually don’t like the word bling, but Mochimochi Blingbling seems cute to me because of the repetition and silliness.

Very perceptive, Lachlan! They’re very similar – just a bit shorter and rounder.

Thank you all for your super nice words about these pieces! I had a lot of fun making them.
Because I made these for a gallery show, I probably won’t be releasing a pattern for them. But plenty of designs in my tiny collections (available in my shop) would make great jewelry like this, and you can find the materials to make necklaces from any craft store. Definitely possible to DIY!

How about Mochimochi Purls? (Comes from the word “pearls” and the knitting stitch.) It’s rather punny….
