This simple pattern calls for knitting in the round on double-pointed needles, I-cord, and mattress stitch.

Just curious - is this a self-stuffing toy? I mean, would the chicken stuff the egg and vice-versa? So I don’t need to mess with that stuffing stuff that itches my nose????!?!
Good question!
The pattern calls for “light stuffing,” but I think depending on the type of yarn you use, you may not need any stuffing at all. (The pattern also calls for felting, which can give some extra structure to the toy, again depending on the yarn you use.)
I saw this blog post and decided to pull out my copy of Craft and get started. I am doing a “bluebird” instead of a chicken…using blue yarn instead of yellow…I’m so excited because I’m going to finish it tonight…it took me about two hours to make one side, probably about six hours total for completion, so this is a great quick-knit.

Love your “Which Came First?” pattern - but I’m a crocheter & don’t know how to knit yet, so I wondered if some super-skilled person out there could design a similar pattern for crocheters? Seems like it could easily be done by someone who knows how - but I’m definitely NOT that person. I would really appreciate it if someone could do this, & I’m sure there are others like me who would enjoy it also.

Hi Gina, thanks for your comment. I know there are a few crocheters out there who would like to have my patterns in crochet. Someday I might try my hand at designing crochet patterns, but for now I’m sticking with knitting since I love it so much.
Anyone is welcome to modify my patterns into crochet for their own personal use, but they would need to receive my permission before distributing or publishing a crochet version of one of my patterns.
