Forget Me-Not: embroidered love from the new craft movement
February 6 – 27
Opening reception: Friday, February 6th, 6-8 pm (RSVP info@galleryhanahou.com)
gallery hanahou / 611 Broadway, Suite 730, NYC
For generations, women have expressed love of family through the painstaking art of embroidery. This February, gallery hanahou presents a new generation of embroidery artists using needle and thread to depict love in broader terms, whether idealized and simple or brutal and complicated. Curated by Kristen Rask, this group exhibit of affordable artwork will win your affection in more ways than one. A meaningful alternative to waxy chocolates.
In conjunction with Forget Me-Not, gallery hanahou will host an artist-led Valentine embroidery workshop on Saturday, February 7th, at 1 pm. Space is limited, so please contact info@galleryhanahou.com asap for details!

And here is a small sample of the artwork in the show!
From Diem Chau,:
From Vivienne Strauss:
From Orly Cogan
From Sarah Horton:
I love the first piece from Diem Chau (and will admit a little fear over Drew on the Price is Right!). It sounds like a wonderful exhibit!
Wow, those look awesome. And complicated. But mostly awesome.
Hmmm…The one from Orly Cogan kinda freaks me out…The big hand only has 4 fingers!!!!!! Actually…they all kinda freak me out, except for the one by Diem Chau, I love that one! Oh! I forgot to ask you, Did you figure out what to co with Puffy yet? :D
oops, I meant to say “did you figure out what to do with Puffy yet”
What happened to Bob Barker??? I think Drew is quite boring but the only time I watch it is when I’m home sick from school.
Bob Barker retired a long time ago. Drew is pretty boring…I’ve only watched The Price Is Right 2 times since Bob retired.
Can I just say that I love the “Price is Right” one? It expresses the enthusiasm of the participants so well. The Diem Chau and the Orly Cogan (especially the latter) are amazing.
I also love the Price is Right embroidery. It’s so perfect! I don’t know what the price will be, but if it is right, so to speak, it’s mine.
knittedteacups, I’m actually hoping to include a new version of Puffy in the book that I’m working on, that will probably be published in summer or fall of next year. But if he doesn’t make the cut, he will most certainly show up on the website. Thanks for asking!
Hooray!!! I love puffy!!!!!!
loling at the price is right!!!!
