Empty Windows

I took this photo with my phone camera a few weeks ago. It’s a building on 11th Avenue in New York, not far from where I live.

I like how it’s a normal building, then it just stops, as if part of the backside melted away. Not sure what’s going on here.

  1. That is a perfect visual for how I feel sometimes. All this great facade, a little substance, and POW. Nothing but air.

It’s a beautiful picture. Haunting, curious, very evocative. Thanks for sharing.

  2. this looks a lot like my grandparents’ apartment building.
    oh, i forgot. today’s my birthday1111

  3. I guess those are the cheaper apartments. You said 11th—11th and what? It looks like the resident housing for St. Vincent’s hospital— been a few years since I lived there, but I want to say 11th and 6th or 7th… I think my memory is going already… Anyhow, great pic.

  4. Cool shot! Looks like more than one building was using the same facade… Definitely weird! I guess those are the apartments with built-in AC and express elevators to the basement! ;P
