Mochimochi at Urban Craft Uprising

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be in Seattle next month at Urban Craft Uprising!

urbancraftuprising

The big craft show will happen at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall on December 4th and 5th with more than 100 vendors selling everything handmade and awesome.

You’ll be able to find me near the entrance with copies of Knitting Mochimochi—there are official signings scheduled for Saturday at 2 pm and Sunday at 1 pm. I’ll also have some hand-knitted tiny things for sale AND I’ll be debuting knitting kits for some of my newest Tiny patterns too!

By the way, if that image above looks slightly “Mochimochi” to you, it’s because I’m responsible for it! Kristen Rask, one of the organizers of UCU, invited me to create the image for this year’s show to go on postcards and t-shirts. This was my first “real” illustration project, so I was a little unsure about the whole thing, and I was thrilled and relieved when my design was approved. I think I’m gradually getting better at using Adobe Illustrator, and I loved this opportunity. Thank you Kristen!

OK, I hope to see those of you in the Seattle area at this awesome event on December 4th and 5th!

Oiyi’s Forest Friends

Oiyi is a friend and one of my superstar testers, and she did a great job testing my new Forest Friends cross-stitch pattern a while back. She recently showed a pic of her results on her blog.

Beautiful! Oiyi was a big help in making the pattern as user-friendly as possible.

Oiyi is actually venturing into knitwear designing herself, and she just released a pattern for this gorgeous shawl.

The design is called Kouyou, and you can buy the pattern as a download on her blog.

Tiny Football is Blushing

Thank you all for your cute tiny football captions over the weekend!

It turned out that Raydra had the best answer to the question “What does this tiny football contemplate when he’s just been kicked in the mud?”

tinyfootball_blush

I really hope that cute pom pom didn’t see that.

Nice job, Raydra! That means you get a free pdf pattern from the Mochimochi Shop!

Coming Home to Loops

I was so happy to be at Loops in Tulsa on Thursday evening! Owner Shelley invited me to give a talk about Knitting Mochimochi—we had a great turnout, and this was a very special event because my family and hometown friends could be there too.

I was joined by Brandi Simons, the local photographer who was responsible for all the beautiful photos in the book. It was so much fun to reminisce about our shoots from the spring of last year. Together we talked about our most difficult shoot (for the Cuter Polluters, involving locating the perfect oil drum and then dealing with a windy day and allergies) and how we involved many of our families and friends for the different images.

(By the way, these great photos were taken by Brandi’s husband Mike Simons. They are quite the power-photojournalist couple.)

One fabulous touch that Shelley dreamed up was these fantastic Feet Eater cupcakes! They were custom ordered from Merritt’s in Tulsa.

Amazingly, those weren’t the only Mochimochi-themed desserts of my weekend in Tulsa. My friends Brianna and Michelle baked these awesome cookies for a party the following night!

It was a very nice trip home. Thank you to everyone who made it so special!

Tiny Football

It’s about time a piece of sporting equipment was represented in tiny knitted form, don’t you think?

Leave your caption in the comments, and the best one will win a free PDF pattern from the Mochimochi Shop on Monday!

Tiny Things Collection 4 Patterns Now Available!

Good news, everyone! A new Tiny Things pattern collection is now in the Mochimochi Shop!

tinys4_avail

It’s been so nice to get ongoing requests for new Tiny patterns. It seems like I can’t release them fast enough! These four—panda, zombie, bee, and cheeseburger—are another selection of my favorites from the past year or so of Tiny Things, so I’m excited to release the patterns for everyone to try.

You can buy the pattern collection as a PDF download for $5 here!

Rainycloud Ghost Costume

OK, so I just blogged about holiday knitting, but then I also just spotted this awesome Halloween Rainycloud that I had to share!

rainycloud_fullerenedream1

That’s right, a clever knitter dressed a Rainycloud up as a spooky ghost, with a separate sheet for each of the Rainydrops!

fullerenedream added these photos to the Mochimochi Friends Flickr group, so they’re in the running for the Mochimochi Photo Contest! Be sure to add your photos by November 15th!
