Mossy Things for Plush You

Wanna see what I made for Plush You this year? It’s a Mossy Rock, a Mossy Log, and Mossy Ground!

These three will be available at this year’s Plush You show, which opens October 9th at Schmancy in Seattle. (I think they’ll be available online too!)

I really liked how they turned out (even strange little ground guy), but my absolute favorite thing about this project were the tags that I made for them.

I had this idea in my head of what I wanted the tags to look like, and then I made them and they turned out just how I wanted! I made them using Illustrator, which is pretty much my favorite thing now.

Bye, Cats

Our cats on loan from my Brother-in-law sadly had to say goodbye over the weekend. They were with us for about two and a half months, so they really became a part of our family, and it was hard to see them go. John and I feel very lucky to have had Tucker and Zizzou while we did, though.

Here are some of my favorite cat pics from their stay with us!

The fish tank was, as a friend remarked, like HBO for the cats. That is, once they figured out they were never going to catch the fish by swatting at the tank.

Zissou was particularly tolerant of our affection.

We will miss you, cats!

Lil Milton Baldee

“I believe you have my stapler?”

baldees_craftyginger

CraftyGinger made the funniest Baldee in the likeness of Milton Waddams from Office Space. For the above image, she Photoshopped the sexy glasses and eyes onto him to give him just the right look. Clever!

Now all he needs, says CraftyGinger, is a tiny red stapler. I just might try to make one myself if she doesn’t do it first, though I’m not so sure I could pull it off.

Thanks so much for the test, Kari!

Aging Punk Baldee

Check out this hardcore Baldee still hanging on to his punk rock hairdo!

baldees_knititblack1

He was a test knit done by my friend Kristen (knititblack on Ravelry). As soon as I heard she was giving her Baldee a mohawk, I wished I had thought to include that hairstyle in the original lineup. Too cute!

Thank you for the test, Kristen!

Make Boo with me in Tulsa!

Hey Tulsa area knitters! I’ll be teaching a Boo class at Loops yarn store on Tuesday, September 29th.

If you haven’t been to Loops, it’s a beautiful store with a super-friendly staff.

Take the class and you’ll learn to knit in the round using double-pointed needles, how to pick up and knit stitches, and how to seam using mattress stitch. The project is so quick, you’ll have time to make a bevy of bats by Halloween!

The class is being offered for the special low price of $29, so sign up asap by emailing shelley@loopsknitting.com. Hope to see you there!

Hardly-Hirsute Hamish

I was lucky to have some super-creative testers try out the Baldees pattern before it went in the shop. Their Baldees are so cool that I couldn’t wait to show them here.

First up is Kate’s Hardly-Hirsute Hamish!

baldees_discosmurf

From Kate (aka discosmurf on Ravelry):

H. H. Hamish is lovingly cultivating a small fuzz of facial hair (or is it chest hair?) to draw attention away from his lack lustre locks. He likes sunsets and movies (with Fantales), but dislikes windy days.

Aw, sounds like Hamish is putting out an ad to attract that special someone who will love him for his winning personality.

Kate was also sweet enough to send me a package of the Fantales that she mentioned, straight from Australia. They are like Rollos, except better because they come with movie trivia printed on the wrappers!

I’m trying to ration them, but it’s true that they’re especially tempting when watching a movie.

Thank you, Kate, for the test and the treats!
