Since the Gnomes vs Snowmen madness is now winding down, I think it’s high time for a new collection of Tiny Mochi patterns!
These brand-new patterns are some of my favorites from the past year or so of the Tiny series. With just a little time and scrap yarn, you could host a mini bowling tournament, outfit your desk with a family of baby koalas, whip up a pair of ice cream earrings, or make some acorn Thanksgiving favors for next week!

I’m thrilled to feature one of my knitting heros on the blog today! Lauren O’Farrell is knitting up a storm in the great city of London, and her daring feats with needles and yarn are truly a force to be reckoned with.
Lauren wears many wooly hats, including president of Stitch London, yarn graffiti artist (allegedly), and she has just written a book! Stitch London: 20 kooky ways to knit the city and more is full of patterns for knitted characters, wearables, and other practical and sometimes silly projects all inspired by you-know-where.
I met Lauren in person last year when I teamed up with her to knit pigeons in London with the awesome knitters of Stitch London. It was a blast! Her new book has me wistful for that day of knitting in her magnificent city, and the book seemed like the perfect excuse to pick Lauren’s brain about her life as a Londoner and knitting maverick.

So this is the last week of Gnomes vs Snowmen!
I took some photos of the installation last week, which I’m excited to finally share here. I’m hoping to take better ones before the show ends (this Friday is the last day), but for now here’s a look at some fun bits of the big battle!

A tragic accident kind of spoils the day, and a pleasant afternoon of naked bathing is rudely interrupted…
A Snowman awaits his old-timey demise…
A Gnome gets smothered by his own beard!
A fallen hero is laid to rest in the cutest way possible…
Toasted Snowmen smell like revenge…
An epic snowball fight begins, and quickly ends…
A normally peaceful house becomes an unwitting arms dealer…
An angst-filled Snowman strips Gnomes of their non-hat attire and exiles them to Snowberia…
Santa has had it with the fighting, and unleashes evil robots! (You can just see Santa’s backside in the left side of the photo; he is pulling a lever on his factory.)
Snomen and Gnomes both do their part to destroy the evil robots…
Gnomes and Snowmen discover that friendship is almost as fun as fighting!
