Now Open in Berlin!

I was so happy with the crowds who stopped by all day yesterday to see the knitted solar system! Here’s a quick pic from the opening last night.

It’s enough of a thrill just to exhibit these pieces that I spent the past two months making, but amazingly everything has also sold out! I couldn’t believe that!

Big thank-yous to Anna at Smallspace gallery, to Pictoplasma, and to Lion Brand for providing lots of colorful yarn. Also, to everyone who stopped by! (The show will be open just through this weekend.)

I promise more photos very soon. Now I have go to see all the other shows in the Pictoplasma character walk!

The Makings of a Solar System

Hello from Berlin! It was sunny and warm when we arrived, and it seemed like the whole city was one laid-back garden party with both children and dogs running around unleashed and happy.

After a delicious meal and much-needed coffee with Anna from Smallspace, we (Anna, and my sister-in-law Jenna, and I) got right to work on the layout of my show. It was exciting to get started and a big relief to see that all the pieces were here and I didn’t forget something important at home (knock on wood).

The most exciting thing might have been the vinyl sticker that Anna put on the window at the front of the gallery. It has my name on it and everything for everyone who passes by to see!

We’re actually almost finished now, and I’ll share plenty more pics of the show soon. Can’t wait for the opening of the Pictoplasma festival!

Tiny Things Collection 5 is Here!

Get out your kazoos! A new Tiny Things pattern collection has just joined the Mochimochi Shop!

These are some of my recent favorites from the ongoing Tiny series, and your comments and emails tell me that many of you want to knit them too!

You need fingering-weight sock yarn, size one needles, and just a few minutes to whip these guys up. As always, you can scale up the patterns just by using bigger yarn and needles.

Bluebird of Happiness

Look who I found on Ravelry!

Basaltimum made this bluebird of happiness using my Puppet Love pattern. I’m impressed by the clever color work! I asked her how she did it, and this was her reply:

I put random splashes of the contrasting color throughout the body to make it in a fair isle style. I didn’t chart out the colorwork, just let it flow. I used floats to do the head although that part would have worked as panels.

Cat Measuring Cups

How cute are these measuring cups!

These were a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law, and I’ve been meaning to do a post about them since January. I don’t have a lot of space for displaying cute stuff in my apartment, so it’s extra fun when I do get something worth making a space for. It’s also fun to think about measurements in terms of cats instead of cups. Add 2 cats of sugar and blend well!

I believe they came from Modcloth.

The Dolly’s Llama

More than 50 of you submitted caption suggestions for Tiny Llama over the weekend!

It was really difficult to choose a favorite, but I had to go with this one, which I knew would make for a cute photo:
